RESEARCH + CONTEXT

As personalization reshapes consumer behaviors, Casetify’s product lines must accommodate a range of aesthetics while maintaining its strong brand identity.

By studying Pinterest Trend reports , I evaluated the product’s potential impact based on current consumer habits. These findings indicate a growing consumer interest in customizable tech accessories.

USER PERSONAS + COMPETITOR ANALYSIS

Nuanced user personas must capture the diversity of aesthetics of Casetify's target audience. Competitor products in the same aesthetic must be analyzed to identify gaps and areas for development.

Based on the demographic data, I narrowed down the target user and curated detailed aesthetic-driven mood boards to guide design direction.

Popular Casetify Bow Cases

Competitor Cases

Key Insights

  • Existing Casetify Bow cases cater to “coquette” aesthetics and are often paired with animal motifs.

  • Competitor cases offer more “bow-centric” prints with unique colorways that cater to both aesthetics

  • New collections should aim to include a diversity of motifs and colors that resonate with a range of consumer styles

DESIGN PROCESS

Hand-drawn prints that spark delight through humor, perfected through iteration.

Based on the pre-production research, I created illustrations that I presented to the Creative Director and team for feedback. Over multiple syncs, I iterated my designs. Selected prints were then tested on cases before being added to the final collection.

In total, I created 30 prints with 16+ being selected to be part of the product launch. By understanding which cases were selected versus not, I was able to tailored my design choices for future prints.

Launched Animal Prints

Not Selected Animal Prints

Once the prints were finalized, I worked with the creative director and marketing team to decide the 50 colors of backdrops. Then, I evaluated each color based on the potential popularity and visual cohesiveness with the prints.

Selected Colors for Promotion

I then created mock-ups of each print on all 50 colors, then selected the seven best fit backgrounds.
